The leather bum pack »Mel« is a classic fanny pack with many compartments and for every day. It is particularly practical when travelling, when you want your valuables to be safely stowed away but always within reach. The design dates back to the late 1980s and became world famous at the time due to the Californian skater movement. Currently, the "hip bag" is experiencing a great revival in street style. With »Mel«, we have reduced this design classic to the essentials and given it a contemporary and grown-up look with our leather.
The compact fanny pack can be worn around the waist or across the shoulder, or cross-body. The bag is currently only offered in one universal size (one-size). However, the fanny pack can be individually adjusted to the waist (90-120cm or size M-XL). The model has 2 zipped compartments at the front and 1 zipped compartment at the back. The belt opens and closes with a metal snap closure.
The bum bag is almost entirely handmade. Only natural and sustainable materials are used. All stress points are additionally reinforced.

The bag made of canvas and leather is almost completely handmade in many individual steps. Our master bag makers and saddlers need years of training to be able to produce bags of this quality.
We value natural and high-quality materials and pay attention to sustainability and the environment. GENUINE BUFFALO LEATHER, 100% COTTON, a high material strength and the complete absence of synthetic fibers in our outer fabrics characterize our bags. Handmade premium quality you can feel!
Leather is a natural material and may have small imperfections. Each leather product is also patinated by hand. This complex process makes our products unmistakable. No bag can be exactly like another. Small color deviations are unfortunately unavoidable and not a sign of poor quality.

All efforts are made to ensure that everything that goes into the making of a Drakensberg piece is of a certain high standard. We use vegetable-tarined full-grain leather. We only use the finest of hides that are subjected to only a minimum of chemical processes to leave them exceptionally smooth and natural in look and feel. Over time, the leather will develop a rich and lustrous patina. Water repellent premium canvas and our cotton lining fabrics, combining with solid brass and copper hardware-materials chosen not only for their character but for their endurance. Built to age gracefully and designed to last, our pieces are a reflection of our values of integrity and trust. The entire supply chain is socially responsible and is regularly checked by us on site.

CAN I CARRY THE "MEL" FANNY PACK, HAVANA-BROWN, ACROSS THE SHOULDER?
Due to the universal size, the bag can also be carried across the shoulder. For this, the belt should be brought to the maximum length.
WHAT SIZE DO I NEED FOR THE »MEL, HAVANA-BROWN« FANNY PACK?
We currently only offer our leather fanny packs in one universal size. This has the advantage that the bag can be worn around the waist or across the shoulder. The length of the hip bag is adjustable for a waist circumference of 90-120 cm. The bag fits from approx. size M to size XL.
HOW CAN I CLEAN AND CARE FOR THE "MEL" FANNY PACK, HAVANA BROWN?
We recommend three steps for the care of the leather hip bag:
- Remove dust and dirt particles from the bag, e.g. with a leather brush or hand-held vacuum cleaner
- Gently dab and rub away stains with a clean, wet cloth. Consider trying a mild detergent if the stains are stubborn. You can use a special leather cleaner for this. You should test this in one place beforehand and use it in accordance with the instructions for use.
- Slightly grease leather from time to time (e.g. leather care with beeswax or carnauba wax). It is always best to test one spot first..
WHAT LEATHER IS THE »MEL«, HAVANA-BROWN FANNY PACK MADE OF?
We only use vegetable-tanned, full-grain buffalo leather for the fanny pack. The particularly robust leather comes from India. During production, our leather is also refined by hand with oil and wax, giving it its special vintage patina.
WHERE AND HOW IS THE "MEL" FANNY PACK, HAVANA-BROWN, MADE?
Our goods are made in India. Our manufactory is a small family business whose long-standing employees manufacture our bags with a lot of heart and passion. In the meantime, a real friendship has grown from our long cooperation. The production conditions are socially acceptable and correspond to BSCI standards. We convince ourselves of this on a regular basis. Our leather and cotton fabrics are sourced directly locally from India. When dyeing our cotton fabrics, only dyes that are free of AZO dyes are used. Our leathers are basically vegetable tanned, i.e. plant-based and without the use of aggressive tanning agents. Our standards are socially and ecologically justifiable and above average.

Our leather tannery is certified to the LWG standard and we use only vegetable tanning agents for tanning. The Leather Working Group (LWG) is an initiative to make conditions in tanneries and intermediaries more transparent and to bring about sustainable change. To implement its goals, the Leather Working Group has developed an audit protocol for sustainable and responsible leather production.
