Until the beginning of the 20th century, seafaring was the only real option for long-distance travel. The exploration of our planet would also have been unthinkable without seafaring. Ship names such as Endeavour, Victoria or Santa Maria will probably forever stand for the greatest ventures in human history. Like hardly any other piece of luggage, the duffle bag stands as a symbol for this spirit of discovery and heroism.
Our duffle bag »Robin« is modelled on the iconic shape of the classic duffle bag and further developed with practical details. »Robin« can also be worn like a backpack thanks to the split back strap. However, the special strengths of this unusual sea bag lie in its flexibility and low weight. Especially when there is little space and little weight to carry. For valuables such as wallets, smartphones or writing utensils, there are two practical zipped compartments on the sides.
The duffle bag has a high quality finish. All wear points are lined with leather on the outside. All stress points are additionally reinforced. The underside of the bag is completely made of leather.
Perhaps you have already noticed that our bags are different.
The bag made of canvas and leather is almost completely handmade in many individual steps. Our master bag makers and saddlers need years of training to be able to produce bags of this quality.
We value natural and high-quality materials and pay attention to sustainability and the environment. GENUINE BUFFALO LEATHER, 100% COTTON, a high material strength and the complete absence of synthetic fibers in our outer fabrics characterize our bags. Handmade premium quality you can feel!
Leather is a natural material and may have small imperfections. Each leather product is also patinated by hand. This complex process makes our products unmistakable. No bag can be exactly like another. Small color deviations are unfortunately unavoidable and not a sign of poor quality.

FAQs: Frequently asked questions about our Duffle Backpack »Robin« Olive-Green
CAN I TAKE THE "ROBIN" CANVAS DUFFLE BAG, OLIVE GREEN, ON THE PLANE?
Unfortunately, this duffle bag does not correspond to the dimensions of the usual airlines. So far we haven't had any problems taking the duffle bag on board as a backpack, as long as it isn't full to the brim. It is best to ask the ground staff beforehand.
IS THE »ROBIN« DUFFLE BAG, OLIVE GREEN, DIMENSIONALLY STABLE OR IS IT RATHER SOFT?
Our duffle bag made of canvas and leather is part of the so-called soft luggage and consists partly of soft cotton canvas in olive green. Therefore, the shape changes, somewhat depending on the filling quantity. The advantage is that the vintage duffle bag can be stowed away better if it is not needed. With our bags, we deliberately do without a plastic lamination, which is required for a firm shape.
IS THE "ROBIN" DUFFLE BAG, OLIVE GREEN, WATERPROOF OR WATER-REPELLENT?
The duffle bag made of canvas and leather was designed based on the classic maritime duffle bags of the 19th century. In order to be as authentic as possible, we have only used materials - as they were 100 years ago - and avoid plastics and chemicals as much as possible. Unfortunately, the standard version of our canvas duffle bag is not waterproof or water-repellent. However, a short rain shower doesn't bother our bags. Alternatively, the duffle bag can be impregnated against moisture.
CAN THE "ROBIN" DUFFLE BAG, OLIVE GREEN, BE MADE WATERPROOF AFTERWARDS?
The duffle bag with backpack function can be impregnated very well afterwards, with a commercially available and colorless impregnation spray (e.g. Impregnol). Alternatively, you can also use an impregnation wax (e.g. Dr. Gee's impregnation wax). You should only note that this can change the color and texture of the bag. It is best to test the impregnation on the back.
HOW CAN I CLEAN AND CARE FOR MY "ROBIN" DUFFLE BAG, OLIVE GREEN?
We believe that a duffle bag with a vintage look can and should be seen to see how intensively it has been used. That's how it has to be. If you still feel the need to clean your bag, we recommend three steps:
- Remove dust and dirt particles from the duffle bag, eg with a brush or hand-held vacuum cleaner
- Gently dab and rub away stains with a clean, wet cloth. Consider trying a mild detergent if the stains are stubborn.
- Slightly grease leather from time to time (e.g. leather care with beeswax or carnauba wax). It is best to be careful not to hit the canvas to avoid stains.
WHICH LEATHER IS USED FOR THE "ROBIN" DUFFLE BAG, OLIVE GREEN?
We only use vegetable-tanned, full-grain buffalo leather for the duffle bag. The particularly robust leather comes from India. During production, our leather is also finished by hand with a colored carnauba-based wax, giving it its special vintage patina. A perfect interplay with our cotton canvas.
WHERE AND HOW IS THE "ROBIN" DUFFLE BAG, OLIVE GREEN, MADE?
Our goods are made in India. Our manufactory is a small family business whose long-standing employees manufacture our bags with a lot of heart and passion. In the meantime, a real friendship has grown from our long cooperation. The production conditions are socially acceptable and correspond to BSCI standards. We convince ourselves of this on a regular basis. Our leather and cotton fabrics are sourced directly locally from India. When dyeing our cotton fabrics, only dyes that are free of AZO dyes are used. Our leathers are basically vegetable tanned, i.e. plant-based and without the use of aggressive tanning agents. Our standards are socially and ecologically justifiable and above average.
Our leather production is LWG certified
Our leather tannery is certified to the LWG standard and we use only vegetable tanning agents for tanning. The Leather Working Group (LWG) is an initiative to make conditions in tanneries and intermediaries more transparent and to bring about sustainable change. To implement its goals, the Leather Working Group has developed an audit protocol for sustainable and responsible leather production.
