The »Finn« weekender is the true cosmopolitan in our range. A holdall inspired by the laid-back elegance of the jet set era. Late 1950s to early 1980s. The style-defining decades in which the privilege of air travel divided mankind into avant-garde and ordinary. Weekender »Finn« takes you on this journey into this exciting time. Check in at New York's Waldorf Astoria, order a drink at the bar of the Hotel du Cap Eden Roc on the Côte d'Azur or enjoy an after-noon tea at the Peninsula in Hong-Kong. And discover the jet set life. And off.
The »Finn« weekender is a compact leather travel bag with a practical shoe compartment. The bag is suitable as hand luggage and is accepted by most airlines. The main compartment is opened with the smooth-running zipper. Inside there is a zip pocket for valuables. There is also a practical zip compartment on the outside of the back. The weekender can be carried casually over the shoulder or by hand on the leather strap.
The »Finn« weekender is almost entirely made by hand. The production of a single bag takes countless hours. Only natural and sustainable materials are used. All wear points are lined with leather on the outside. All stress points are additionally reinforced. The bottom of the bag is padded and elegantly quilted in "diamond stitch". Our DRAKENSBERG signature element.
We are Daniel and Christoph and live our dream. We founded the DRAKENSBERG label because we want to inspire people to recognize the true value of travel and to strive for it.
To understand the path as a goal and to grow with it. A good trip means learning. About life and about yourself. We know that a good trip can change a whole life. Our travel bags are intended to remind people of the zeitgeist of the 19th and 20th centuries, when travel was still an adventure and travelers were adventurers.
Perhaps you have already noticed that our bags are different.
The bag made of canvas and leather is almost completely handmade in many individual steps. Our master bag makers and saddlers need years of training to be able to produce bags of this quality.
We value natural and high-quality materials and pay attention to sustainability and the environment. GENUINE BUFFALO LEATHER, 100% COTTON, a high material strength and the complete absence of synthetic fibers in our outer fabrics characterize our bags. Handmade premium quality you can feel!
Leather is a natural material and may have small imperfections. Each leather product is also patinated by hand. This complex process makes our products unmistakable. No bag can be exactly like another. Small color deviations are unfortunately unavoidable and not a sign of poor quality.
FAQs: Frequently asked questions about our Duffle bag »Finn« Cognac-Brown
IS THE LEATHER WEEKENDER »FINN« IN COGNAC-BROWN ACCEPTED BY AIRLINES AS HAND LUGGAGE?
This weekender corresponds pretty much exactly to the dimensions of the common airlines. Depending on the airline, e.g. with the low-cost airlines, the dimensions can be tight. It is therefore better to inquire beforehand whether the bag can be taken on the plane as hand luggage. So far we haven't had any problems with this size, especially on scheduled flights.
DOES THE LEATHER WEEKENDER »FINN« IN COGNAC-BROWN KEEP ITS SHAPE OR CAN IT BE STOWED AWAY FLAT?
Our leather weekender belongs to the so-called soft luggage. Therefore, the shape changes depending on the filling quantity. If you are not looking for adventure, the weekender can be stowed flat and space-saving in the wardrobe. We deliberately do without a plastic lamination, which is required for a solid form.
IS THE LEATHER WEEKENDER »FINN« IN COGNAC-BROWN WATERPROOF OR WATER-REPELLENT?
The leather weekender is modeled on the classic travel bags of the 19th century. In order to be as authentic as possible, we have only used materials - as they were 100 years ago - and avoid plastics and chemicals as much as possible. Unfortunately, the standard version of our leather travel bag is not waterproof or water-repellent. However, a short rain shower doesn't bother our bags. Alternatively, the bag can be impregnated against moisture.
CAN THE »FINN« LEATHER WEEKENDER IN COGNAC-BROWN BE MADE WATERPROOF AFTERWARDS?
The weekender can be impregnated very well afterwards, with a commercial and colorless impregnation spray (e.g. Impregnol). You should only note that this can change the color and texture of the bag. It is best to test the impregnation on the underside.
HOW CAN I CLEAN AND CARE FOR MY LEATHER WEEKENDER »FINN« IN COGNAC-BROWN?
- Remove dust and dirt particles from the bag, e.g. with a leather brush or hand-held vacuum cleaner
- Gently dab and rub away stains with a clean, wet cloth. Consider trying a mild detergent if the stains are stubborn.
- Slightly grease leather from time to time (e.g. leather care with beeswax or carnauba wax). However, please always test on an inconspicuous area first to avoid nasty surprises.
WHAT LEATHER IS THE »FINN« WEEKENDER IN COGNAC-BROWN MADE OF?
We only use vegetable-tanned, full-grain buffalo leather for the weekender. The particularly robust leather comes from India. During production, our leather is also refined by hand with oil and wax, giving it its special vintage patina.
WHERE AND HOW IS THE LEATHER WEEKENDER »FINN« IN COGNAC-BROWN MADE?
Our goods are made in India. Our manufactory is a small family business whose long-standing employees manufacture our bags with a lot of heart and passion. In the meantime, a real friendship has grown from our long cooperation. The production conditions are socially acceptable and correspond to BSCI standards. We convince ourselves of this on a regular basis. Our leather and cotton fabrics are sourced directly locally from India. When dyeing our cotton fabrics, only dyes that are free of AZO dyes are used. Our leathers are basically vegetable tanned, i.e. plant-based and without the use of aggressive tanning agents. Our standards are socially and ecologically justifiable and above average.
Our leather production is LWG certified
Our leather tannery is certified to the LWG standard and we use only vegetable tanning agents for tanning. The Leather Working Group (LWG) is an initiative to make conditions in tanneries and intermediaries more transparent and to bring about sustainable change. To implement its goals, the Leather Working Group has developed an audit protocol for sustainable and responsible leather production.
