Turn every little trip into a real adventure trip. This travel bag is designed to inspire and encourage you to leave the beaten track. The "Sam" travel bag is based on classic expedition luggage and would cut a fine figure on any wild safari through the Okavango Delta. We have attached particular importance to the many small details. The cargo pocket on the front, which can be closed with a magnet, is particularly practical.
The travel bag »Sam« is a sporty weekender-style bag for weekend trips of up to 3-4 days. It's the ideal bag for road trips, city trips, going to the gym or any other everyday adventure. The bag can be carried over the shoulder with the shoulder strap or carried casually by hand on the leather strap. It is particularly easy to open and fill. The leather straps on the side can be detached for additional storage space of up to 60 litres.
The bag is of high quality. All wear points are lined with leather on the outside. All stress points are additionally reinforced. The bottom of the bag is padded and elegantly quilted in "diamond stitch". Our DRAKENSBERG signature element.
We are Daniel and Christoph and live our dream. We founded the DRAKENSBERG label because we want to inspire people to recognize the true value of travel and to strive for it.
To understand the path as a goal and to grow with it. A good trip means learning. About life and about yourself. We know that a good trip can change a whole life. Our travel bags are intended to remind people of the zeitgeist of the 19th and 20th centuries, when travel was still an adventure and travelers were adventurers.
Perhaps you have already noticed that our bags are different.
The bag made of canvas and leather is almost completely handmade in many individual steps. Our master bag makers and saddlers need years of training to be able to produce bags of this quality.
We value natural and high-quality materials and pay attention to sustainability and the environment. GENUINE BUFFALO LEATHER, 100% COTTON, a high material strength and the complete absence of synthetic fibers in our outer fabrics characterize our bags. Handmade premium quality you can feel!
Leather is a natural material and may have small imperfections. Each leather product is also patinated by hand. This complex process makes our products unmistakable. No bag can be exactly like another. Small color deviations are unfortunately unavoidable and not a sign of poor quality.
FAQs: Frequently asked questions about our Duffle bag »Sam« Khaki-Beige
IS THE "SAM" TRAVEL BAG IN KHAKI-BEIGE ACCEPTED AS BOARD LUGGAGE BY AIRLINES?
This canvas travel bag corresponds pretty much exactly to the measurements of the common airlines. Depending on the airline, e.g. with the low-cost airlines, the dimensions can be tight. It is therefore better to inquire beforehand whether the bag can be taken on the plane as hand luggage. So far we haven't had any problems with this size, especially on scheduled flights.
WHICH CLOSURE SYSTEM IS USED TO CLOSE THE PATCH POCKET ON THE FRONT OF THE TRAVEL BAG?
We added a magnetic clasp under the belt buckle. This allows you to quickly open and close the bag without sacrificing the cool vintage look.
IS THE »SAM« TRAVEL BAG IN KHAKI-BEIGE WATERPROOF OR WATER-REPELLENT?
The weekender in khaki-beige was designed based on the classic travel bags of the 19th century. In order to be as authentic as possible, we have only used materials - as they were 100 years ago - and avoid plastics and chemicals as much as possible. Unfortunately, the standard version of our travel bag is not waterproof or water-repellent. However, a short rain shower doesn't bother our bags.
CAN THE CANVAS TRAVEL BAG »SAM« IN KHAKI-BEIGE BE MADE WATERPROOF AFTERWARDS?
The weekender in khaki-beige can be impregnated very well afterwards, with a commercial and colorless impregnation spray (e.g. Impregnol). Alternatively, you can also use an impregnation wax (e.g. Dr. Gee's impregnation wax). You should only note that this can change the color and texture of the bag. It is best to test the impregnation on the underside.
HOW CAN I CLEAN AND CARE FOR MY "SAM" TRAVEL BAG IN KHAKI-BEIGE?
We believe that a vintage travel bag can and should be seen to see how intensively it has been used. That's how it has to be. If you still feel the need to clean your bag, we recommend three steps:
- Remove dust and dirt particles from the bag, e.g. with a brush or hand-held vacuum cleaner
- Gently dab and rub away stains with a clean, wet cloth. Consider trying a mild detergent if the stains are stubborn.
- Slightly grease leather from time to time (e.g. leather care with beeswax or carnauba wax). It is best to be careful not to hit the canvas to avoid stains.
WHICH LEATHER IS USED FOR THE »SAM« TRAVEL BAG IN KHAKI-BEIGE?
We only use vegetable-tanned, full-grain buffalo leather for this travel bag. The particularly robust leather comes from India. During production, our leather is also finished by hand with a colored carnauba-based wax, giving it its special vintage patina.
WHERE AND HOW IS THE "SAM" TRAVEL BAG IN KHAKI-BEIGE MADE?
Our products are made in India. Our manufactory is a small family business whose long-standing employees manufacture our bags with a lot of heart and passion. In the meantime, a real friendship has grown from our long cooperation. The production conditions are socially acceptable and correspond to BSCI standards. We convince ourselves of this on a regular basis. Our leather and cotton fabrics are sourced directly locally from India. When dyeing our cotton fabrics, only dyes that are free of AZO dyes are used. Our leathers are basically vegetable tanned, i.e. plant-based and without the use of aggressive tanning agents. Our standards are socially and ecologically justifiable and above average.
Our leather production is LWG certified
Our leather tannery is certified to the LWG standard and we use only vegetable tanning agents for tanning. The Leather Working Group (LWG) is an initiative to make conditions in tanneries and intermediaries more transparent and to bring about sustainable change. To implement its goals, the Leather Working Group has developed an audit protocol for sustainable and responsible leather production.
